I’ve been waiting to build and price the Colorado with the diesel. They waited till Motor Trend gave them the truck of the year award to finally add the option under build & price. But I managed to get it up to $41,415. That’s top trim z71 with everything that comes in that trim and an added on option of remote start. Its alot of coin for a Colorado ( I hate how much diesels add on to the price of trucks) but compare that price to the Silverado:
To get a Silverado at that price you get the basic ass Work Truck trim, crew cab with 4wd. Mind you as you can see from this screen, no options have been added yet. This is just a bare bones, steel wheeled crew cab. Makes the Colorado look like a bargin. Realisticly though, would any of you drop over 40k on a Diesel on the Colorado? Mind you this is top trim. I think you can get the diesel on a lower trim, and its going to come in just under 30 grand. But I doubt you’ll actually be able to find any of those.

I desire a diesel Colorado...not because of the economics, but because of the range. I hate carrying extra fuel.

4 Door full size crew cabs are running with about 7500 off MSRP for the various manufacturers. From what I’ve heard it is about 3500-4K for the diesel. What it comes down to is do you pay 35-40 for a diesel Colorado or 30-35 for a full size.
I’ve found a few F-150’s with the 2.7 crew cab and 4wd for just under 30.
I really want the diesel and a crew cab truck will most likely be my next vehicle purchased - probably in the next 6 months. Unless you must have the diesel and Colorado/Canyon configuration, I can’t see buying one. The price difference offsets any mileage gains.
However, if demand goes down a bit next year, a 30-35K diesel Colorado would be the one I get.

The Silverado has full-time 4wd, the Colorado has part-time shift-on-the-fly 4wd. You have to step up to the GMC Canyon to get full-time 4wd on a smaller truck. The Canyon is still cheaper than the Silverado though.

Most definitely would.
